Today I used my new Animal Spirit Guide Oracle Cards to do a short reading. I love these cards, as they demonstrate the power of animal spirit guides and totems in our daily lives.
I did a 3 card reading, asking for guidance about my current journey, and pulled the following cards:
Blue Heron, Pueo (Hawaiian Owl), and Penguin.
Here’s what they mean:
Blue Heron: “Make a stand for what you believe in and do what feels right in spite of any judgment or disapproval from others.” This card is reminding me to trust in my intuition to know what the right path is, and not to pay attention to those who might disapprove or criticize my choices. The greatest and most fulfilling support comes from within, form that place inside that guides me by revealing signs that tell me what path to follow. Heeding these signs help to align my Soul with Spirit’s intention for me.
Like the Heron, this might mean getting both feet in the water and wading through the dregs of other people’s disapproval, asserting myself when necessary. But practical optimism and clarity of purpose will dissipate the cynicism and self-pity, so long as I trust in my inner knowing and let that be the source of my strength to help me keep moving forward.
Pueo (Hawiaiian Owl): I love owls. These are perhaps one of the most powerful animal totems, and I often see or hear them in my daily life, so I know they have much to teach me. This card states, “Your ancestral spirit guides are offering you guidance right now, so pay close attention to signs and omens from them.” This card signifies that my ancestors in the spirit world – whether recently deceased or from long ago – are offering help in many ways right now. It tells me to stay attuned to these messages, through visual, aural, sensory, and mental images.
Ancestral guides can appear in dreams – particularly vivid ones – with messages, or they might appear in photographs, as dopplegangers, or in the form of animal spirit guides. Repetition is the key here: When signs continue to show up that make you think of a particular ancestor, know that these physical manifestations demonstrate that they are with you and are sharing messages with you. They are there to help guide you through important times and challenges. And always remember to give thanks to your ancestors for sharing their wisdom.
Penguin: This card says that “The period of darkness that you’ve been experiencing is now passing.” It signifies that the hardships that I have endured in life have taught me important life lessons that have been invaluable in forming the person that I am right now. These experiences shaped the kind of personality and character I possess, but the path I have ultimately chosen has been driven by the choices I made in response to those hardships. This is particularly true for this current cycle, that has presented numerous challenges that I have managed to deal with successfully. The card represents the end of this period of struggle, whether or not I am conscious of it yet, and that it has contributed significantly to my spiritual growth.
The end of this current cycle of hardship will not mean the end of all challenges, of course, but I will be able to continue to face them with the courage and inner strength that I have mustered during this period of struggle, which has unveiled resources I never knew I had which will serve me well for the rest of my life. This card signifies the passing to a higher level of awareness about my own abilities and my own soul’s destiny that will help me deal with whatever might come my way with self-confidence, grace, and fluidity.
When we pay close attention, our animal spirit guides and our ancestral spirit guides have much to tell us about our current situation and the path we need to be following. Open your eyes and your heart and look around you for signs of these messages every day.
